Link network: How can I set up a link network myself?

Almost every SEO agency accumulates a considerable amount of domains over time. Many agencies use the domains directly as satellites or presell pages for customers; others set up more general pages or portals such as bookmark services, counters, forums, etc.

What is particularly important when setting up a link network?

You should use at least one different IP address, or better, another Class-C network, for each domain used within a project. This means that you need various webspace providers, or you use hosts specializing in this service, which offer servers with different IP addresses.

Cheap webspace packages can be found, e.g., at Webhostlist. To constantly struggle with domain moves when terminating. It is advisable to use a domain provider and then set the domain to the appropriate provider via the DNS entry for cost reasons. For many providers, this is not a problem, and the prices for the webspace packages without a domain are often very cheap.

To make a link network really “invisible” to Google, changes must be made to the owner data for the domain, which can be legally problematic.

Depending on the size of the link network, you should think about this. Whether so-called trust services (anonymization of domain owner data) from domain providers make sense is questionable if Google were actually to evaluate the registry data since such entries would be a clear sign of dubious websites. In my experience, the entries don’t matter at the moment.

Of course, it is also important not to use the same Adsense account on all of your domains. It really can’t be more comfortable for Google, but other footprints must be avoided.

A link network needs to be maintained.

A link network must be maintained, content should be added regularly, the software solutions used ( WordPress, Redaxo, etc.) must be brought up to date, and user-generated content must be checked.

Establishing the backlink for the individual domains can, of course, also take a lot of time. Depending on the value and importance of such satellites, “simple” and “automatic” link building methods can also be considered.

All in all, having your large link network is undoubtedly a great thing to be able to push your keywords relatively calmly in the SERPs. The whole thing has to be well planned and managed to function effectively in the long term.

16 tips for a perfect link network

A network of multiple domains is essential for many SEOs to work as SEO. Nevertheless, a few things should be observed so that the entire link network is not exposed in an emergency.

I would like to conclude with the following 16 (hopefully) useful tips for a perfect link network to suggest to you what these are. You are sure to know a few of the tips already, but maybe there is one of the other tips that you haven’t known yet:

  1. Create decent pages with decent content, not just 10-page domains. A proper domain usually has around 50 to 100 subpages.
  2. Stick to the topic that you know about. Some pages will bring you to topics where you know almost nothing, absolutely nothing.
  3. Make sure that the content never sounds the same and that it is informative over and over again. Don’t write everything down on every domain.
  4. Keep your content updated at regular intervals.
  5. It is best to spread the keywords for the domains and not optimize 5 or even more domains for the same keyword.
  6. When choosing the link partner, make sure that you do not link from one page to several pages in your network and, worst of all, with the same keyword. It is noticeable when the backlinks always come from the same sources.
  7. Always design the layout differently. You don’t have to see at first glance what belongs together. If you want to know, look at the imprint.
  8. Stand by your projects with your name, and do not write anything in the imprint or even in DENIC. (The “White Hat” Link Network Way).
  9. If possible, don’t link your network to each other. Even if the links should match, you should avoid it.
  10. Make sure that every domain receives proper backlinks, not just from web catalogs. A network only brings something if it has a certain strength.
  11. Don’t put AdSense or something on every page. Using the publisher ID or something similar, you can quickly see which page belongs where.
  12. If you use the Google Webmaster Tools, please do not manage all pages under the same account.
  13. Don’t send your entire network to anyone else via a list. Only ever give a part to see and keep the really good projects for yourself in the backhand.
  14. If you include the imprint as a graphic, always name the graphic differently. I’ve already seen networks where there is an imp-firmenname.jpg picture everywhere.
  15. Use some of your sites to test new things too. If you have enough pages, there should be at least two test pages.
  16. Never visit one page at a time from your network. And if it is absolutely necessary, the Google Toolbar (if installed) and the Alexa Rank (if installed) switch off.
Can you think of any other things to consider? If so, please let me know with a comment.
